Follow along as I document my virtual pinball build journey. I’ll do my best to update this site regularly and share my progress as the machine comes together.
I’ve always been fascinated by computers and retro arcade cabinets, so when I discovered the world of virtual pinball in January 2024, it immediately caught my attention. After doing some research and watching countless helpful YouTube videos—especially from Way of the Wrench—I set out with the goal of building my own cabinet.
My first build was a 32" Game Room Solutions virtual pinball cabinet, roughly a three-quarter scale version of a full-size machine. I completed the build in a few months, and while I was proud of the result, I still felt like I wanted something more.
As I continued following several pinball-focused YouTube channels, I started thinking about owning a real pinball machine. Because of space limitations—and to help offset the cost—I decided to sell my virtual cabinet. After a bit of convincing at home, I purchased a Stern Uncanny X-Men Pro machine.
Playing a real pinball machine was a great experience, but over time I realized something was missing. What I loved about virtual pinball was the huge variety of games available at your fingertips, along with the ability to continually upgrade and improve the cabinet. That sense of creativity and accomplishment just wasn’t the same with a real machine.
A few months later, I sold the Uncanny X-Men Pro and started planning my next project. My goal with this site is to document the entire build process and share everything I learn along the way. Hopefully, my experience can help or inspire others who are beginning their own pinball journey.
